About Her
Angela Dickey is a Canadian-based Media Production student, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University, with the goal of building a career in the film industry. She is passionate about each three stages of the production process and is particularly interested in creative direction, screenwriting, and producing. Through film, photography, and other creative mediums, Angela aims to create work that leaves an impression to her audience.
Her interest in filmmaking began during her final semester of high school, when she wrote and directed her first short film for a media studies class. Eleventh Avenue (2024) was her first opportunity to fully immerse herself in the filmmaking process, from developing the initial concept to completing the final product. The experience introduced her to the world of directing, screenwriting, editing, and the entire collaborative process, ultimately sparking a passion for filmmaking and storytelling.
After graduating high school, Angela completed the UCLA Summer Springboard Filmmaking Program in Los Angeles, where she explored commercial filmmaking and developed an original short film script. The program selected her script as one of a small number of projects to move into production, allowing her and her team to bring the project from page to screen.
Afterwards, she went to Dawson College and studied in Cinema and Communications, where she developed a foundation in film production, media and communications, writing for the screen, event coordination, and visual storytelling.
Alongside film production, she explored editorial and digital media. She worked as a Social Media Manager for The Plant, an independent, student-led newspaper at Dawson College, collaborating with both its print and digital teams. This experience further developed her interest in editorial work, eventually inspiring her to create her own independent magazine, The Ladies' Room.
Since then, Angela has continued developing her experience across a variety of production roles. In 2025, she worked with Something Great Films as a Script Supervisor and Continuity Coordinator on the ACTRA-finalist short film The Man with the Golden Wrapper (2025), which was later screened at Fantasia International Film Festival in 2026. She continued collaborating with the production company on the upcoming feature film The Outstanding Spiderman, working in Continuity and as a Production Assistant. She also worked as Script Supervisor and Continuity on the upcoming pilot episode of Clothes Make the Man in 2026.
In summer 2026, she worked at a Montreal photography studio, gaining experience in client-based photography, scheduling, customer service, camera operation, and photo editing. She also had the opportunity to work with influencers and clients during studio sessions and events. This experience developed her interest in photography, which she has since begun pursuing independently.
As a freelance photographer, she photographs models, creatives, and professionals for portfolios, editorial content, and LinkedIn and professional headshots. While photography is a newer area of her creative practice, she looks forward to continuing to develop her work and building a collection for her portfolio gallery.
